又叫水树、救命树，旅人蕉科，多年生热带草本植物，原产于马达加斯加。叶片如巨大的折扇，又似孔雀开屏。长长的叶柄基部储存着大量的雨水，行人只需在叶鞘上挖一个洞，甘泉便涓涓流出，供人饮用。马达加斯加的国树、国花。

Arbre du voyageur

L’arbre du voyageurouravenale(Ravenala madagascariensis), appelé aussi l’arbre d’eau ou l’arbre du secours, est une plante tropicale de la famille des Strelitziaceae, originaire de Madagascar. Ses vastes feuilles sont disposées en éventail, justement comme des paons font la roue. La base de Ses pétioles peuvent retenir et réserver l'eau de pluie, les voyageurs peuvent obtenir et boire de l’eau de ces pétioles. L’arbre du voyageur estun emblème de Madagascar, la fleur nationale de Madagascar.

마다가스카르 파초 

물나무, 구명수, 여행자파초라고도 불리우는 다년생 열대 초본 식물로서, 그 원산지는 마다가스카르 이다. 나무잎은 거대한 부채를 방불케 하고 마치 공작새가 꽁지를 편뜻하다. 기다란 잎 줄기의 밑부분에는 대량의 빗물이 저장되어 있어, 길가던 손님이 잎집에 구멍을 뚫으면 달콤한 물이 줄줄 흘러나와 갈증을 풀게 한다. 이는 마다가스카르의 국수, 국화이다. 

Traveler’s Tree

Also named as water tree, life-saving tree, it is of Strelitziaceae, and the perennial tropical herbaceous plant is originally found in Madagascar. The leave is as huge as a folding fan or spreading tail of a peacock. The long stipe base contains a great amount of rain water. Travelers only need to dig a hole in the leaf sheath, and sweet water will then flow out. The plant is the national tree and flower of Madagascar. 

กล้วยพัด

ชื่อเรียกกล้วยพัดในภาษาจีนมีหลายชื่อ เช่น  ต้นธารา ต้นชุบชีวิต กล้วยนักทัศนาจร เป็นพืชเขตร้อนที่มีแหล่งกำเนิดมาจากประเทศ มาดากัสการ์ ใบกล้วยเหมือนกับพัดใบใหญ่ คล้ายกับยูงรำแพน ปล่องใบที่เรียวยาวเก็บน้ำฝนได้ปริมาณมาก  นักเดินทางเพียงเจาะรูที่ก้านกล้วยก็จะได้ดื่มด่ำน้ำแร่อันบริสุทธิ์  นับเป็นไม้ประจำชาติของมาดากัสการ์
